PDA REPRESENTS PACKAGING JURY OF THE RED DOT AWARD: COMMUNICATION DESIGN 2009
Monday 18 May 2009
CALL FOR ENTRIES
Dear PDA friend,
red dot and the Pan European Packaging Design Association are collaborating
for the third time to stage the red dot award: communication design 2009. Packaging
remains a key feature of our modern communication-driven culture and it plays
an increasingly important role in linking the consumer to the brand-owner and/or
retailer.
The involvement of the PDA in the red dot award: communication design ensures
that every nuance of the complex role of packaging throughout industry and
commerce is explored and evaluated by international experts as a separate entity
apart from other areas of advertising and communication design. A panel of judges
representing three different cultural spheres – namely, Fabrizio Bernasconi from
Italy, Fumi Sasada from Japan and Catherine Faucheux from Belgium – will use
their diverse expertise to select winners on the basis of the competition’s clearly
defined criteria. Design agencies, first and foremost members of the PDA, will
feel reassured that their work will be judged by packaging experts, instead of
other design-oriented professionals who view things from a different perspective.
The red dot award: communication design has consciously decided to judge
packaging design as an important and separate discipline rather than as an adjunct
to, or as a minor element within, a complex media mix.
At the same time, this move represents a challenge to designers and their clients
to enter their work for scrutiny by a panel of experts. Entering this competition is
a test for them, but it is also a celebration of packaging design. Winning the red
dot is of inestimable importance – it is an accolade that sends out a clear signal
beyond the design world about the winners and their work.
The past two years have shown that the chances of winning a red dot are good.
So don’t miss your opportunity to win this prestigious prize and use a unique
design platform to show the world that in these turbulent times, consistency,
imagination and an awareness of quality are the bedrock of success.
